Spartacus should be known to future students because he held Crassus for
about two years. He had a strong army and had defeated so many kings'and there armys'. Spartacus was a strong leader and his army kept growing with power because other slaves from the places they fought, kept adding up everwhere they went. By the time they reached Crassus
, Spartacus had an army of over 12,000 slaves. But, Spartacus not knowing that Crassus had joined up with three other Roman armys': they fought back killing 12,000 slaves and only killing seven of the Roman soldiers. His escape route was to flee, but it was blocked by one of the three armys' that had teamed up with Crassus. Spartacus had no choice but to fight off Crassus. They were easily surrounded and killed. The 6,000 slaves that had escaped and fled were trapped by Pompey's troops and were crucified along the Appian Way from Capua to Rome.
